What does a Hotwireless Hotspot installation cost?

- The cost of the internet connection is for your account.
This will be through any broadband service supplier such as Telkom ADSL or Vodacom 3G.
Hotwireless can assist you in the application thereof and give you advise.
- Our basic Hotwireless “Hotspot in a Box” costs the following:
- Installed by Hotwireless
- R 2,500.00 + vat
- Monthly charge of R 399.00 + vat for a 24 month contract
Our Hotwireless “Hotspot in a Box” consists of the hardware and firmware required to start a small hotspot such as a 10 room B&B, coffee shop, petrol station or car wash. The monthly cost is for your seamless connection to our Hotwireless Hotspot Manager (see - why choose Hotwireless as your preferred hotspot supplier).

How can you generate an income from your Hotwireless Hotspot?

- Typically you can charge R 1.00 per minute for internet use.
- If you give out passwords that last for longer periods of time you can drop the rate per minute. eg. R100.00 per day or R 250.00 per week.
- If you have regular guests or customers, give them a monthly or annual password at a good rate to ensure their loyalty – you might want to give complimentary passwords to VIP guests or customers.
- Returning guests or customers will also ensure a higher income.
A typical break – even scenario:
- Hotspot manger monthly fee = R 399.00 per month
- Average internet user is 1 hour = R 60.00 per hour
- Therefore you will only need 7 users at 1 hour per month to cover our costs.
- Thereafter you will generate enough to cover your ISP charges.
- Thereafter you can generate a new stream of income. e.g. 1 user per day for 1 hour = 30 days per month at R 60 per hour = 30 x 60 = R 1,800.00 per month. This is a very conservative example. Some of our venues are extremely busy and others not so – mostly because they have recently installed their hotspots.

In order to make use of a Hotwireless Hotspot you do require the following:
- A wireless (Wi-Fi) enabled notebook computer, personal digital assistant (PDA) or wireless (Wi-Fi) enabled smartphone;
- Switch on the Wi-Fi service on your notebook, PDA or smartphone;
- Be within the coverage area of a Hotwireless Hotspot; and
- Select the wireless network with the network name of the hotspot supplier.
